         Making writing easier and better

Molly Wingate has thirty years of experience teaching writing at all levels to a wide range of people.  She received her B.A. and M.A. in English from Bucknell University.  She has taught writing to students and to teachers in high schools, community colleges, colleges, and universities.  At Colorado College, she was the Writing Center Director from 1987 until 2001.  In 1999, she won the Ron Maxwell Award for distinguished leadership in the field of peer tutoring in writing, and in 2000, she was the keynote speaker for the International Writing Center Association annual meeting.  She published widely on the subjects of peer tutoring and writing centers.

Established in 2001, Wingate Consulting is Molly’s way of doing what she likes best, helping people get their ideas into words.  Molly enjoys a myriad of writing projects to which she brings her curiosity, talent, and wit.  She has published feature essays, a cookbook, and a court history while coaching over 30 writers.

Molly is married to Brian Murphy and has two sons, Gavin and Aidan.  She volunteers in the schools her sons attend.  A founding member of the Manitou Springs Education Foundation, she served that organization in many capacities.  She currently serves as a commissioner on the Manitou Springs Historic Preservation Commission.  She loves to read, write, listen to music, travel, cook, hike, bird watch, and watch her boys play sports.
